FORMER EMPLOYEE STEALS JEWELLERY

The former employee of Dumont Jeweller’s on Vine Road, Barton is arrested. James Riley, 27, burgled Dumont Jeweller’s last night at 11.30. All jewellery was won back by police.

James Riley broke into the shop. He has known that place for three years, because he worked as a shop assistant there. Riley opened the safe and was taking the jewellery worth Ł 200,000 when Bob Gilmour who lives opposite shop, saw light in the shop. Gilmour was leaving home, because he went to work. He called the police immediately. Police arrived on scene within minutes and caught the burglar who was still in possession of stolen jewellery. James Riley admitted to the crime.

The police spokesman said : “Here has been a disturbing number of break-ins in the area recently”. The superintendent of Barton promised that soon more policemen will be on a patrol in local streets.
