Kevin, the *UP (or even *B) command is not implemented in the long file
description in the Librbaries. I use Bob's Term Pro Send Buffer, Line with
Prompt for ALL of my editing in this area.
Increase your line and character delay a bit, from the default settings, and
it should be fine.

Bill: I u?ld a file which is bad. Somehow Genie got one block more than it
should have. It's called Store Screen and is Ml version of Store/ Recall. The
description should be okay, but should I start all over? I've added a few
wrinkles that show it can do lots more than I first thought. =Kevin

OK, Kevin. I wouldn't worry about the block count from GEnie, however the new
file would be great. I'll delete the old one (I have it on disk, anyway), and
if you could 'up' the revised one, that would be great! I'll make sure it's
released before I leave.

Bill & Kevin: I have used a buffer dump in the 'longer description' section
of file uploads with no delay at 2400 baud with perfect results. Same goes for
the message editor.

I've been doing it for a long time now bill. It was very useful when I was
uploading all of those different dialer versions of PCG Term. And that was
with that old cheap Digital Data modem, not just my Supra.

I have never done it, but toyed with the idea. My intention was to tae
decompression routine on the RAMDOS disk and figure it out using that code.
All hi-res files are in very similar format, at least Koala, Doodle, Print
Shop, etc. They may load in different areas but that is a technicality. A
matter of a 2 byte load address adjustment. I would suggest you look to
commodore's decompression routine. I was planning on reversing the logic (I
guess) they use to de-compress the files.

There is a program available, but it is supposedly EXTREMELY slow, taking up
to 4 hours for a detailed picture. I haven't used it, but I have been led to
believe it is written in BASIC. I wonder what kind of speed difference you
could achieve in ML, but if something takes 4 hours in BASIC and 45 minutes
in ML, would you be happy. Maybe it wouldn't be that bad though.

Wanna hear a good one. I have Abacus COBOL for the C128 and have NEVER used
it. Never even loaded it. Bought it for school but wasn't allowed to use it.
I did read a good bit of the manual. It is obviously not a mainframe version,
but would probably be decent for home puttering.

Nah! I'm like a squirrel. I hide things away even if I never use them. It
is one of only 2 programs I have by Abacus, the other being the 128 compiler.
That is excellent with many GREAT features including the ability to compile
6502 machine code. Based on that I would be inclined to trust Abacus
software. Their books are excellent too!

There is an excellent arc/de-arc file in the software library. I think it's
in the telecomunication library. It's called ARC-AID and I useit all of the
time when I want to de-arc something. A utility is almost a MUST if you want
to get the most out of the libraries, especially the games library. It can
also save you valuable time uploading.

I am not an MSDOS user as yet, or an Amiga user either, but I believe that
the ZOO format is used exclusively on those higher end machines. If you are
interested in ARC programs there are a ton of them on GEnie. The one I'd
recomment is ARC 2.30. You can also get the ARC aid program mentioned
previously. I believe it includes an ARC to SDA converter. I also think
there are easier programs to use to do that. The version of ARC that I have
had no trouble at all with is ARC 2.30. I personally stay away from ARC 2.50
as I've had a lot of troubles with it when it came time to de-ARC files.

This was a topic for discussion some time ago, and is still on GEnie under
the category PCGTERM 6480.arc I believe. I stay away from ARC 2.50. It does
work, but when it bites you it bites hard!

Does anyone know if Transactor for 8 bit machines is still around? I used to
buy their mag but havent seen anything since sept 89. I have seen a couple of
the amiga versions. If they are gone, it is to bad since they had a lot of
interesting articles. If anyone knows how to get in touch with them, be much
appreciated.
