Well, the topic pretty much says it all. I am looking for a 128 mode bbs, that
will handle the older 9060 and 9090 hard drives, as well as two sfd (1 meg)
drives. Also, the BBS MUST be able to operate at 2400 baud, and have a minimum
of 10 file transfer 'directories', as well as 10+ Message bases. I have not
been able to find a C-net 128 BBS operating anywhere, and therefore, I cannot
look at one remotely. Can someone please leave me some info about this BBS, or
the author's name (If he's on GEnie), or his support center BBS? Any and all
help is greatly appreciated.

I ran a C-Net BBS under the latest release of the 128 version (I forget the
number.). I finally ended-up dropping back to the older one.

We ran into the same problem with the C64 C-Net. Had so many problems with
the newer version (the then-new 12.0) that we dropped back to 11.1a. Our
attitude is to wait for a new version to get burnt and debugged during actual
use *on someone else's BBS* before upgrading... <grin>

Here's a C-net 128 BBS number if you are interested: Mule Lip BBS 219-736-
8424

The operator of Mule Lip has been running C-net for some time and might be
helpful answering your questions.

There are some P-Files in the BBS Resource CEnter, our Library #7. I'll move
this topic to the BBS category here on the BBoard so others will make sure to
see it!

There are also some P-files over in the BBS RT...But to be honest, the best
place I have seen so far for C-net P-files is on another service (gasp!!!)---
You know, the 'Q-word'.

Not a C-Net sysop myself, but our club runs a BBS with C-net 11.1a and a Lt.
Kernal hard drive. We've thought about upgrading to version 12.00 but have
heard it has quite a few bugs. Any other opinions? One problem we have with
11.1a is that Xmodem transfers time out every 12th Xmodem block for Amiga
users. On some term programs the handshaking never recovers, and the transfer
eventually dies. A real pain, and the AMiga people in the club ain't too
thrilled about not being able to make use of the BBS for downloading.

Anyone out there had any luck getting any version of C-Net to work with
Amiga X-Modem transfers?

I, too, would love to see more c-net p-files uploaded here. I HATE! Q-Link,
but that was the only place I could ever get any new stuff. I have found a
board in Philly, accessable through PCP at 415-551-7295 (name escapes me) that
has WONDERFUL p-files available. As for how many C-net sysops you have here,
the number could well be intto the hundreds, but the question is, how many of
them stray into the dungeons, a.k.a. these subs? I try to support C-net
sysops with a c-net mods and p-file area, and put my newly acquired p-files
there for all interested. The Dark Crystal 303-322-2589, PCPable...

Our user group is running C-Net 11.1a and have two major problems: Xmodem
does not work reliably, due to the 12 block sends. And we have a Supra 2400
baud modem, which C-Net does like (seems to have something to do with carrier
detect ... we've gotten it to answer the phone, but it hangs up immediately).

Are there any 12.0 users out there who can verify that Xmodem works proper;y
(specifically for AMiga users), and that the Supra 2400 works with it? At
this point, we don't *have* top run at 2400 baud .... we just want to be able
to use the modem at 300/1200.

Julie Rhodes informs me that version 12.1 is due Real Soon Now. Anyone have
an idea when? And finally, is 12.0 ant more solid than 11.1a?

  Thanks,

  Dave

P.S. to Color 64 users. Can you answer the same questions? Especially
about the Supra 2400?

as for Color 64 - yes - yes - yes - yes - <<grin>>

Color 64 can run at 2400 baud - no problems - and have many Supra owners. As
for Xmodem, it works great with all kinds of computers. I just finished a CRC
version too - great for LARGE Amiga files.

Color 64 is nothing like C-net in its operations - so please read my Color 64
information file (in our downloads here) before you make a decision whether to
convert. If you like the way Color 64 works (most persons do), then I can
assure you that all your current complaints that you listed in the previous
message will be eleminated by switching to my BBS software.

Thanks, Greg. I still have the number of your BBS around here, and will give
it a call soon. SOunds like, if nothing else, it would solve our Xmodem and
Supra problems. As I'm sure you can understand, we've been bitten almost
every time we've changed BBS software, so are getting pretty wary about doing
so again. It seems that some problems get solved, but others just pop up.

I'm a C-NET v12.0 Sysop... not sure I should broadcast it though. Reliable
support is non-existant, notice all the replies to the cries for help here?
Sheesh! a couple pleas for help and no answers from anyone. It seems to run in
the C-NET family... I've been fortunate to find some help from a few other
sysops, but its quite difficult to get through to those few systems that are
willing to help. I would have thought that GEnie would be a great place to
look for help... or offer help.

Well, I got a letter from the C-Net folks today. Seems the guy who wrote C-
Net 12.0 and was two months behind schedule on releasing 12.1 has decided to
leave the company. Seems he's also going to attempt do some mods to 12.1 and
sell it as his own product. The C-Net gang says thet are looking into the
legal aspects. They then proceed to apologize for the "devistating" blow to C-
Net PR, especially to those with upgrade orders.

Then they inform us that the guy who wrote version 11.1a two years ago had
been working on his own enhancement in the background and has agreed to let
them market it as of September 1st. It will be called C-Net DSII and will
allow huge program overlays and even swamping of the main file (CN) while the
program is runnung. More MCI commands, enhanced editor, and other changes.

No word on 2400 baud support or whether Xmodem has been fixed.

We have a *FlagShip* member who is looking for the address to contact and
purchase C-Net. His GEnie mail address is: B.CLEGG

If we have some C-Net sysops here, please leave the author's address and BBS
number here in this topic, and I'll forward it on to B.CLEGG in mail.

C-Net has been through a couple of marketers over the past year, so I'm not
100% sure on this. I think the current address is:

Perspective Software
 1716 Walnut Ridge
 Canton Twp., MI 48187

The author (Ken Pletzer) runs the Future World BBS at (313) 981-6150.

This is from the C-Net 11.0 manual. Since that time Prestige International
took over marketing for a while, did a horrible job, and had their marketing
rights revoked. Ken took over the job himself again through his Perspective
Software company. I *think* the address is the same as was in the original
manual.

Our user groups runs C-Net 11.0 and after our share of troubles we've got it
working well. Our sysop rewrote the upload/download area to allow for
